The Ouija boards you find on the internet are just fun applications that shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Whilst I can certainly see why people might find them entertaining to use, I wouldn't put too much weight on the answers you get from them.

Are online Ouija boards real?
Ouija boards (also known as 'talking boards') are meant to be mystical boards used to communicate with dead spirits and souls from another world.

I decided to give one of these online Ouija boards a go, to see if they really are any good.

My first question was a bit of a test to see if the whole thing was genuine or not, so I asked: 'What's your name?'.

Sure enough, the planchette pointer started moving and I was almost convinced that I'd made contact with the spirit world. That is, until I realized that the board was spelling out the words 'maybe later'.

Do online Ouija boards work?
Yes, maybe there was some sort of interference in the line, but I think it's more likely that these online Ouija boards are simple programs designed to pick answers at random from a programmed list.

If you're interested in spending some time messing around with one of these spooky online ouija boards, here's a couple of sites to check out:

However, if you're interested in a really interesting program that will give you far more entertaining answers, I'd recommend you visit cleverbot.com.

Cleverbot is a program that works along the same principles as the online Ouija boards - it has a list of responses to the phrases you might ask it.

However, what sets Cleverbot apart is that it is continuously learning and building its database of responses, so that they appear as realistic as chatting to an actual person!

Give it a go and let me know what you think.

I believe one was real because my friend played it, and every question she asked was answered with an answer.

No, it's a hoax!

Definitely not. Online boards never work out right.
I ask them what my name is and the answer is always: Check back later/ cannot understand/too brief.

No, not real. I entered my name as Jay, when my name is Mike.
When I asked it for my name, he called me Jay!
