When Was Zeus Born?

Born In 700BC Zeus according to Greek methodology was the son of Kronos and Rhea. Kronos was the powerful king of gods. There was a prophecy that Kronos would be overthrown by his own son so whenever they had a child Kronos would swallow it up. He swallowed five of his offsprings but when Zeus was born in 700 BC Rhea hid him under a tree in a basket and instead presented a stone wrapped in a cloth to her husband which he instantly swallowed.

According to various sources Zeus was brought up by the nymph, Adamanthea. In the battle between the the Titans and the Olympians Zeus finally overthrew his father and became the king of gods. Zeus ruled from the Mount Olympus by rewarding good and punishing evil. He is famous for his manipulation humans for his own selfish desires. His weakness include him getting in trouble over his love affairs.He is the father of the famous, Hercules.

In Greek mythology, Zeus is the son of Cronos and Rhea. Cronos is regarded as the master of time. He came forward to assist Gaia in her revenge against her husband Uranus. He then married Rhea his sister. There was however a prophecy that said that one of Cronos' children would defeat him and usurp his power.

According when his first five children with Rhea were born including Poseidon, Demeter, Hades, Hera and Hestia he ate them up. However when Zeus the youngest was born Rhea handed Cronos a rock in a blanket instead of the child. Later Rhea took Zeus to Crete where he was raised by nymphs. Much later, in the battle between the Titans and the Olympians Zeus defeated Cronos.

Zeus is the king of gods and the god of thunder and sky. He is the ruler of Mount Olympus. His wife was Hera according to most sources. However according to the Oracle of Dodona he and Dione were the parents of Aphrodite. He is the father of Hercules.
