'Emo' and 'Goth' are both terms that apply to different trends in music, fashion and culture- but are not linked to any specific theological belief or religion.

What is Goth?

'Goth' as a musical genre is an umbrella term that now refers to a wide range of music that has in common a sombre theme or tone. Its origins are based in the British post-punk movement of the early 1980s, a synthesizer-heavy form of punk rock which had as its pioneers bands like Siouxsie Sioux and the Banshees, The Cure, and Bauhaus amongst others.

What is Emo?

Modern 'Emo' is a type of music and a fashion trend that has its roots in the hardcore punk scene of Washington D.C.

Originally labelled 'emotional hardcore', the genre has developed through the 90s and 2000s, and is now synonymous with the melodic, high-tempo guitar-based music of rebellious angst-ridden teens all over the world.

Alternative subcultures and religions

Although, from the outside, it's easy to see something 'cult-like' and almost religious about the devotion Goths and Emos show to the latest trends in clothing and music, the sub-cultures have no specific doctrine or moral code.

Ultimately, being a goth or an emo is simply a lifestyle choice and is not exclusive to people of any belief system. Whilst goths and emos may have their own religious or spiritual beliefs, these are concepts that are fully independent of their involvement in what is essentially just a music scene.

Its not a religion , No Way , its just the way people express themselves by the culture and fashion styles . Mostly people who are goths and emos are not really religious.

Nah its just that people are stereotypical and whenever they see anything different it's automatically labeled as Satanism or witchcraft and they need to stop.

No not necessarily. You can dress and look emo and goth and still follow a different religion however most emos and goths are categorized with Satanism.
