Have u read the Bible? Hon, I think the real answer is about age and wisdom. When one is young, we are invincible. As we age, we begin to see things. What things? Good question. Faith is everything. If u don't believe in something what is to be? What gives you faith? I took so many philosophy classes in college. All of the teachers try to persuade me that there really was not a God. It's a crock!! If u have ever been saved, u would know the feeling.

I left a detailed answer and can't find it now. Don't have time for another. But, I will say that I love ur song by Johnny Cash. Listen deep to it. Don't sweat the religious stuff. As u age, u will figure it out. Just surround urself with positive influences/thoughts. Read the Bible. I know it's hard to understand. Go to vacation Bible schools and on those church field trips. U don't have to be a church member to do these things. I do NOT attend church; but, I am definitely a believer!!!!

Intelligence, education, and reading the Bible should convince any reasonable person that there is no God. Furthermore, if the petty, jealous, genocidal God of the Bible really did exist, why the heck would anyone want to worship such an evil creature?

You seem to miss the fact that God did not crucify man but man himself did these actions.and to punish the followers of Christ they hung 2 of them upside down on the cross to degrade them according to their own belief(the ones that were suppose to know the teachings of moses law)(i suppose moses did not exist either)and stoned others because they would not deny this false God as you claim he did not exist. Funny how a physical action was taken upon some for having a belief in nothing. Hmmmm?

The God of the Bible is not genocidal, but righteous and just. I don't believe you're actually reading the Bible.

Secular teaching, ignorance, history of different cultures, and as the bible says your either on the Lord's side or against him you can't sit on the fence waiting to choose a side.and as the bible/God also says they will be blinded to the truth until they accept Jesus as lord and saviour.which means to me that they can not see what is right in front of them as the truth(as Jesus said forgive them father for they do not know what they are doing even as they took his life).sort of like the rich man when he asked what do i have to do in order to be saved to follow you when talking to Jesus.once he heard the answer he did not like it.in other words he wanted God to be his idea of what  god should be instead of what God /Jesus told him was needed. In other words man can not serve 2 gods.in other words they don't want to believe at one point in the future of their lives they will be judged and found lacking if they are not forgiven under the rule/law of the one God of israel/Jesus the christ.just as the religious leaders of Jesus' time had him crucified for how to say interfering in their idea of how the church should be ran and how the teachings should be interpreted to benefit them.this is the way some people on earth think God should act according to their rules and laws not God's.in other words they want God to take orders from them and be what they say while living in sin.they forget God is the creator and not the other way around. For some reason they think giving up your life to one that created it means that you will have no life. It's funny how man keeps making this mistake of thinking they can decide whether or not heaven and hell exists and that they will not be judged by the creator.like because they deny deny deny it will mysteriously not be so in the end.

My question to you why would a dead religion/a dead prophet/a dead saboteur be believed even after he died or did not exist.in other words why would man hold onto a lie unless their was a belief in the evidence.this is the question you have to work out in your own fear and trembling as the bible/God says. Either God is the only God/jesus made flesh or he was not that is for you to dicide i already have my answers.

In other words any evidence i provide you would not answer your doubt (doubting thomas)unless you could put your hands upon it(in the wounds) and even then you could not prove it was really real to you.becuase you would still have some doubt in your mind if it was a false document.sometimes you have to realize the whole world is not trying to scam you using made up documents/scrolls/historical evidence .so i guess you have to find out if you take anything at face value.

Nomad, thanks for your explanation...Maybe I should put this question under debate...I feel sad that blurters needs to use bad words just to argue with this...I'm also a believer...I just want to gather reasons why there are still who do not believe...still we have to catch them for they are falling.

So does that mean I should believe in god as a type of "hellfire insurance"? God being all powerful and all I'm pretty sure he can tell sincerity from covering one's arse. Even if I were to convert to Christianity for this reason I would not sincerely believe and so my conversion would be meaningless.

Further what's to say that the existence of god suggests a punishment or reward in the afterlife. The purpose of a punishment/reward system is to reinforce good behaviors and deter bad ones, how is this purpose served if the punishment is placed after the time when these good and bad behaviors can be chosen?

Your final claim is that since we cannot provide the proof of nonexistence of an entity we should believe in it, by this logic I should believe in an invisible, incorporeal dragon who spits heatless flames and lives in my garage along with any other entity which cannot be tested using natural sensory input. This means all gods must be real.

I know that there are people who don't believe what is in the bible but I do here is a Scripture that I hope answers your question se coned Corinthians 4-3-4 And even if our gospel is veiled it is veiled to those who are perishing. Vers4 In whose case the god this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ who is the image of GOD I hope this helped
