I don't know about guardian angels, but I think according to, and don't quote me on this, orthodox Judaism and Roman Catholicism, there are 15 archangels, each charged with an important task by God. Michael watches over soldiers, warriors, lawmen, etc. Ariel protects animals and the wilderness. Raziel keeps God's own secrets. Metatron watches over children.
