Paris or Alexander as he is sometimes referred to in Greek mythology was the son of King Priam and Queen Hecuba of Troy; Paris is depicted as a handsome youth in many works of art. He also had a brother by the name Hector. It was forecasted that Paris would induce the devastation of Troy due to which he was forsaken and deserted on Mt. Ida to die.

Luck favoured Paris and a shepherd found and reared him. The prediction did come true as later Paris's abduction of Helen queen of Sparta led to the Trojan War between Troy and Greece which culminated in the destruction of Troy.

Oenone a nymph had special affection for Paris which he reciprocated. A nymph is a woman proficient in the art of healing. Later he leaves Oenone for Helen. In the Trojan War after Paris is wounded he begs Oenone to heal him which she refuses following which he dies.
