Depends on what you determine as violence. Is it violent for one animal to kill another for food? Is it violent for one animal to eat a plant for food?

Is it violent for humans to keep mass stocks of animals in factories and violently kill them or milk them for what they are worth? Is it violent for humans to take animals and stick solvents in their eyes or pump them full of toxins and growth hormone to "see what happens or so they can live longer, or look pretty?" Is it violent for one set of humans to invade a less developed country and steal its oil and natural gases? Is it violent to cut open our bodies and place silicon inside them? Is it violent to eat genetically modified food, or food pumped with preservatives and MSG?

Animals may be violent but they live in harmony with nature. Humans are unnatural,  we concrete grass, or...grass over grass with artificial grass and bring artifical flowers into our home to decorate it!!

Religious texts say we are governed by desire, we must see the truth of that desire only then you can know good.

Aristotle

The premisses of demonstrative knowledge must be true, primary, immediate, more knowable than and prior to the conclusion, which is further related to them as effect to cause... The premisses must be the cause of the conclusion, more knowable than it, and prior to it; its causes, since we posses scientific knowledge of a thing only when we know its cause; prior, in order to be causes; antecedently known, this antecedent knowledge being not our mere understanding of the meaning, but knowledge of the fact as well. Now 'prior' and 'more knowable' are ambiguous terms, for there is a difference between what is prior and more knowable in the order of being and what is prior and knowable to man. I mean that objects nearer to sense are prior and more knowable to man; objects without qualification prior and more knowable are those further from sense. Now the most universal causes are furthest from sense and particular causes are nearest to sense, and they are thus exactly opposed to each other.

Very interesting post. What about violence among humans... Do you think as a species we'll ever be able to shake off the will to do each other harm? Or is it engrained in our biological nature?

I often wonder this when I watch the news and try to comprehend why there always seems to be conflict in the world

Nature of the beast Kass. Man's ego. Where are the egos of animals? Many ancient texts stemming back from corpus Hermetica to Egyptian Thoth say that man can only reach higher when using the mind, and the heart, the eyes deceive us as does our urge to fulfill our basic desires. I can hear truth in that. How many of us are deceived or persuaded by what we see? I personally think it can only get worse, the cold rationale of science could become very clinical and ruthless. Population control has always been uppermost in world leaders minds along with power.

Get the populus to agree to that way of thinking and take away love, art, creativity, dreams, ie what are classed as irrational, then you are cutting off that which separates us from machines and that which will fight for life regardless of disability or class. Humans cannot love when they are taught to hate so much. Hate others, hate themselves. From when we were born we knew pain, hunger, loss, in the womb we were fulfilled. Humans know that they will die, so they fight. Most animals do not have this level of awareness. Funnily enough even society rules are like a game that we automatically follow but never question because we are brought up with them. We create revolutions only to set up a government that ends up exactly the same as the one we fought.

The answer to the Lord's Prayer will rid he earth of violence. Matt 6: 9, 10. We daily ask God "let your will be done on earth as it is in heaven" there is no violence in heaven and we ask God to let his will be done on earth also. God's kingdom is the only thing that can accomplish that miracle. Since the bible gives us God's purpose we can be assured that it will take place - Rev 21:3,4

Here is a link to a 3 min video that explains how it will be done.

"And many peoples will go and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of Jehovah.. He will instruct us about his ways, and we will walk in his paths"...And "They will beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning shears. Nation will not lift up sword against nation, nor will they learn war anymore."- Isaiah 2:2-3, Micah 4:12-3

Those who are already responding to this- in all the nations, worldwide- are already achieving this.

They have disposed of violence, politics, greed, bigotry, all the qualities that both the secular and religious world, has failed to accomplish.

And their heritage is one of "peace".

You will recognize them by examining their history.

The earth will never be violence free as long as it lies under the power of the wicked one. (1 John 5:19) The Bible makes clear that wicked spirit  angels have exerted a strong influence on humans. (Ephesians 6:12) Their leader, Satan, is called the original “manslayer.” (John 8:44) Hence, the violence that takes place on earth could properly be referred to as demonic, or satanic.

However, the time is ever so near for God to remove from the earth all forms of violence and those who promote it, be it humans as well. At that time, instead of being filled with violence, “the earth will be filled with the knowing of the glory of Jehovah as the waters themselves cover over the sea.” (Habakkuk 2:14)

It's not possible, no matter how much scripture or dogma is quoted. Many will state that a theocracy is the way, as a few above have already stated, but we already have them in this world, N. Korea, Iran, Saudi Arabia, and a few others, they don't work. Those above will say "OH well they are man made theocracies, but they are exactly what would be if any God rule would be. Intolerance and death or punishment to any that do not tow the line. It will never happen.
