Does God/Karma punished every little sin? Or does God see the worth in some of the smaller sins committed? For example, if you lie, could God reward that? Or what if you have an affair? Doesn't God match people together sometimes?

As a practical matter, while I occasionally hope for the Karma train to run smack dab into someone, I find it useful to consider God as being at least as good, rational, and understanding as the best person I know.

(If you have grown children, were a good father or mother, have a good relationship with your children, and are proud of them---then it also works well to consider God as dealing with you much as you dealt with your children.)

The 10 commandments are pretty basic.  Avoid trying to put your "sins" on a "profit & loss" basis.  Most importantly, talk to God---I have found that He loves to discuss your life and His plans for you with you.

Develop a relationship with Him and you'll come to understand what I am talking about.

A very rational reply. (And I am an unbeliever).

Thanks, Ray---one common point of belief that we obviously share is the value of the intellect and the opinion of an orderly mind.

God doesn't act on/react to everything an individual does in their life. Additionally, regardless of the intention, he wouldn't reward actions that are morally wrong. And he would, under no circumstances, break his own rules and violate the sanctity of an intimate relationship in order to "match people together." If he did that would mean that he, by his own code, is a sinner and therefore would not be deserving of any praise or worship.

God is not as involved in a person's live as you might  be suggesting. In most cases our lives our shaped by the decisions we make and not by some divine intervention. Gal 6:7 "...whatever a person is sowing, this he will also reap."

Deut 32:3,4 " The Rock, perfect is his activity, For all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness who is never unjust; Righteous and upright is he. They are the ones who have acted corruptly. They are not his children, the defect is their own. They are a crooked and twisted generation!

There is no evidence for gods or karma, so why are you worrying about nothing?

You will have to be more specific when regarding "God" . . . The Abrahamic God saw all sin as the same, and the Hebrew sees sin as simply missing the mark, or falling short. Karma is the idea that people are rewarded or punished based on their good or bad actions and intentions . . . So if Sin is bad in the Karma world (not really thinking it even belongs in a Karma discussion) , then it would be rewarded as bad to the originator of the action, depending on the degree of bad . . . Unless you believe in the power of 3 or 10 . . In which both good and bad actions are amplified back to the originator by that power.

There is no worth in lying and the bible states how God feels about it at Colossians 3:9 " Do not lie to one another.  Strip off the old personality, with it's practices" and at Exdous 20:14 "You must not commit adultery."  God would never bless anyone who disregards his laws.
