I don't want to start any rumors, but I heard Christians are going to eat more Ham on Thanksgiving! Could this be true?
12-19-2015, Update. This question was/is a pure fabricated joke it was meant to be funny and laughable. NOTHING more than a joke I made it up just to be funny.

This is what the bible says about making rules on food that can be eaten

1 Tim 4:1-5  However, the inspired word clearly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to misleading inspired statements and teachings of demons, 2 by means of the hypocrisy of men who speak lies, whose conscience is seared as with a branding iron. 3 They forbid marriage and command people to abstain from foods that God created to be partaken of with thanksgiving by those who have faith and accurately know the truth. 4 For every creation of God is fine, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, 5 for it is sanctified through God’s word and prayer over it.

Thanks for sharing this, I'm so intrigued by details like this, partly because it puts into context why other religions might also mention abstaining from eating pork... it seems like such a specific directive that I can't help but feel all Abrahamic religions are based on a common source.

So is there a specific point in the New Testament that absolves Christians from having to abide by the instructions set out in Leviticus? Apologies if it's in one of the links you sent me, I couldn't seem to find it myself

Rom 10:4 -For Christ is the end of the Law,+ so that everyone exercising faith may have righteousness.

Col 2:13,14 -Furthermore, though you were dead in your trespasses and in the uncircumcised state of your flesh, God made you alive together with him.+ He kindly forgave us all our trespasses+ 14 and erased* the handwritten document+ that consisted of decrees+ and was in opposition to us.+ He has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the torture stake.

Col 2: 16,17 Therefore, do not let anyone judge you about what you eat and drink+ or about the observance of a festival or of the new moon+ or of a sabbath.+ 17 Those things are a shadow of the things to come,+ but the reality belongs to the Christ

The answer is in the scriptures that I gave you. If you want to argue find someone else. If you are looking for the truth you would have understood the scriptures.

Matt 13:13-15 - That is why I speak to them by use of illustrations; for looking, they look in vain, and hearing, they hear in vain, nor do they get the sense of it. 14 And the prophecy of Isaiah is being fulfilled in their case. It says' You will indeed hear but no means get the sense of it, and you will indeed look but by no means see. 15 For the heart of this people has grown unreceptive, and with their ears they have heard without response, and they have shut their eyes, so that they might never see with their eyes and hear with their ears and get the sense of it with their hearts and turn back and I heal them.

I thought it was Muslims that won't touch pork and that Christians eat it all the time. Maybe I'm wrong but I've never heard of such a thing. Doesn't really bother me any way as I don't eat much of any pork. Could you please tell me where it says Christians aren't supposed to eat pork?

i know that Seventh-day Adventists (around 18 million members) don't eat pork... I don't classify myself as a christian and i don't eat pork either..

in my late teens/early 20's while in the adventist church. I was brainwashed to hate it..  (even now, i still figure i will die if i eat it, im scared to even touch it -_-)... The adventist church teaches that everyone who eats pork will be destroyed one day. (they get the verse from Isaiah 66:17)

(they really engrain it in their members too. big time)

I haven't heard of any change in the culinary convictions of crusading Christians, but you can be certain that Pastafarians primarily prefer penne. R'amen.

I don't think so!

However, isn't this a personal decision inside each household regardless of counting it as a unity movement!  ? I mean it's just eating ham that we talking about!

Am I missing something .. Didn't think Christians had anything against pork.  As far as I know, Christians don't abstain from pork.  I think those who practice Judaism do.

We already had Thanksgiving (October 12) and everyone had turkey. The hams just sat there on the store shelves. (actually we had one the next week, as they were on sale)

Possibly? Turkey prices are going to be considerably higher than they were last year, since the industry still hasn't bounced back from the bird flu epidemic earlier this year. Grocery stores may be pushing ham, which has record levels in storage according to the newscast I heard yesterday.

Not entirely sure how one's choice of meat to be consumed during Christmas can be construed as a "rumor".

There has been a significant blow to the poultry industry a few months back resulting in the increased price of chicken, eggs, and turkey. A choice to change the meat for the occasion might just be generated by economic means rather then cultural change.

I think you are talking about Muslim or Jewish people. Here is what Christians are allowed to eat according to the Bible at Genesis 9:3,4, "Every moving animal that is a live may serve as food. Only flesh with its Life -it's  blood you must not eat.'
