Fear not the backbiter for he will bite thee only behind thy back. Fear rather the frontbiter, for he will backbite thee to thy face.

-- Ogden's Gospel, Ch. 3, verse 7.

Proverbs 16::27,28 states, "A good-for nothing man is digging up what is bad,and upon hid lips there is,as it were a scorching fire. A man of intrigues keep sending forth contention, and a slanderer is separating those familiar with one another."  A man who tries to scorch his fellow man's reputation is "good for nothing"  We should try to look for the good in others and say things that build respect for them. Giving an ear to those who spread harmful gossip can cause groundless suspicions, separating friends.
