They don't? Perhaps you should speak to people like Pat Robertson and Mike Murdoch, they seem to like material things a lot.

I had to look them up but, yeah, I'd have to agree.

Back when Christianity was a movement Jesus and Paul both discouraged material things, the end was at hand and was supposed to end 2000 years ago before the last apostle died. So seeking material things made no sense to them because all their time should have been spent making converts and preaching. I wonder what it would have been like if everyone had followed their suggestions and not married, had kids, and seek any material things?

Long ago we'd have been overrun by the Chinese who hadn't yet got the message about breeding. Genghis Khan's empire might still have ruled the world.

Don't ever assume that all Christians carry on like the fundamentalists. Most of them are normal people, just like thee and me, who just happen to hold a particular set of beliefs.

The fundamentalists (in any religion) are a different kettle of fish altogether and like to wear their holiness on their sleeve so that we can all see how good they are. Such people affect  to be above the love of material things, though their arrogance in assuming that only they have the true faith may separate them from other Christians.

There's a joke about a fundamentalist Christian who arrived at the Pearly Gates and was shocked when St. Peter refused him entry. "But I was a good Christian, St. Peter," he said. And Big Petey replied, "Maybe you were, but you didn't have to be such a dick about it."

Hmm .. Never heard THAT one .. mostly because not all 'Christians' are created equal.  Some who 'claim' to be Christian are VERY materialist, and some, well .. Not so much.  There is an individualistic factors that prevents all being painted with one brush.

Different ppl like different things. Not every Christian is like that. Maybe just a majority you know. We cant go around and say why do black ppl like rap music because so do white people and Hispanic, etc. We cant go around saying that Hispanic ppl are the only ones who like Hispanic foods. Its not a specific trait or race of people that like certain things or don't like it. You cant judge a whole entire group depending on one person. Everyone is different I there own way.
