Jesus denounced the Sadducees and the Pharisees. There were similarities between the doctrines and practices of Jesus and those of the Essenes.

The Sadducees and the Pharisees, as well as the Essenes, were political parties in Jesus' time.

Give His comment to "render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's and to God the things that are God's," I propose that He was a member of the Dichotomous Party.

(And yes that was definitely a joke, but He was pretty clear about His stand on certain things.)

And I agree with Angela Anthony.

I would state it slightly differently, however:  "He was THE man."

Dear Pea Nuts,

I have read that Jesus actually received training from the Essenes.

Many years ago I read THE ESSENE GOSPEL OF PEACE, translated by EDMOND BORDEAUX SZEKELY (1905-1979), who was a modern-day student of the Essenes.
