Didge, I am lucky. Not a doubt in the world.

And as to why, I think it is because I am a little bit nuts...a little bit off the beam, and you get angels watching out for you or something...

I consider myself a lucky man, except when it comes to lottery tickets.

What you have is Situations and Circumstances, and the Timing of your arrival.

Now this is not to say that said Situations or Circumstances would or wouldn't  take place with or without your arrival, since you could very well be the cause, or the recipient of a cause should none other be present.

I am, however; working on a fictional book where Luck is something much more. I hope to actually WRITE the darn thing some day.

In these scenes, it might look like the dog's and their owner are unlucky from their perspective. In actuality they are the recipient of an intended nefarious means.

Regardless of origin of causation the recipients should neither assign lucky or unlucky to just a common situation. The catalyst for the nefarious act? . . . the old lady saw the faces of the bank robbers since she happened upon their getaway.

That's one strange video, Dark. I didn't understand it till I re-read your answer. Certainly puts a different face on Luck. :)

It's from "A Fish Called Wanda" . . . wonderful comedy if you haven't seen it.

I saw it LONG ago...did not even recall this sequence, but I do remember it was really funny in a dark way, and Jaimie Lee Curtis was splendid.

Not sure I'm "lucky", but I seem to have avioded bad luck in my life - for the most part anyway.

If I were lucky, I'd be a spoiled brat doing drugs and alcohol probably. So I'm kinda happy I'm very unlucky. I don't know why.

Your idea of 'lucky' and my idea of 'lucky' differ substantially. I would never associate being a spoiled brat with 'luck', nor do I associate doing drugs and alcohol with being 'lucky' either. Not even remotely.

I'm wit Biker Girl on that. Still, filing into Sydney for a holiday on a cool Saturday morning can't be all bad. You must have had some good luck along the way.

I'm still alive. I've seen most of the world (and someone else paid for me to see it). I live in one of the greatest countries in the world. I have two smart, attractive and wildly successful children.

I am never likely to have to worry where my next meal is coming from and no-one is bombing me because it is politically expedient to do so or as a result of some insane religious power struggle.

Am I lucky? You bet I am.

A lucky life indeed, Ray, but when you work hard enough to make all those things possible, maybe "well planned" would be a better term. Still, all the best planning in the world won't help if circumstances don't give you a break. :)

I would say neither.  Because for me to believe in luck or to be lucky would fall into the category of my being superstition. This however does not mean that I am unconcern about my future. It's just not base on luck, rather on the blessings that comes from God.

Neither is a good answer. Chance happens, of course. Whether that chance proves to be good luck or bad luck depends on whether we can either capitalise on it to our gain, or ride it out through the rough patch.

I think that if you substitute "fortunate" for "lucky" - which is the way I saw the question, you can answer and not fall into the trap of being "superstitious".
