McDonalds has written many books on global expansion. On every day in the world 4.2 new McDonald restaurants are opened. By 2003 the company had 30,000 restaurants in 121 countries that collectively served 46 million customers each day. Recently the McDonald entered into the India. McDonald entered into India in late 1990. However India is a poor country. For thousands of year, India's Hindu culture revered the cow. Hindu Scriptures state that the cow is gift of the God to the human race. The cow represents the Divine mother that sustains all human beings.

McDonalds is the world's largest user of beef. Since its founding in 1955, several million animals have died to produce Big Macs. How can a company whose fortunes are built on beef enter a country where the consumption of beef is a grave sin? McDonalds responded to this cultural food dilemma by creating a Indian version of its Big Mac "The Maharaja Mac". This Mac is made of mutton. According to the head of McDonald Indian operations they have studies the culture of the India before launching his products in India so this is why they are successful. So culture plays an important role in the success of any business.
