Many cultures (mostly Asian) consider the praying mantis as a symbol of patience, wisdom, and speed, and some have even deified the creatures. So, from that point-of-view, having a mantis land on someone might be considered a good omen.

But, then again, having a mantis land on someone might only scare the heck out of him or her! ;)
