The fertile soil around the tigris and euphrates rivers.

Food and transportation:
When animals such as water buffalo and camels come by to drink water frequently ,that was a source of food and transportation.
Water:
Remember water was used to build mud bricks to make houses. The could be used for domestic purposes(washing, cleaning).it was used for entertainment and recreational activities . The rivers proved occupations( fishermen ). It was used for transportation as well.

There are so many reasons civilization would be possible in mesopotamia, google is a good source :-)
