St Paul was executed by the Romans. The manner in which he was executed is different in different sources. The most commonly accepted information is that of Eusebius of Caesarea who states that he was beheaded as he was a Roman citizen by the Emperor Nero. He is the patron saint of the City of London and also of Malta.

Initially Paul was called Saul and was an aggressive persecutor of the Christians. It was only after he himself became a Christian that his name changed to Paul. St Paul wrote many of the books of the New Testament in the bible in the form of letters. Fourteen letters in all are written by him. He referred to himself as The Apostle called to preach to the Gentiles. Paul did not meet Jesus and was not one of the twelve Disciples of Christ. Along with St Peter he is one of the most prominent Christian missionaries of the early Christian period. His favourite pupil was St. Timothy.

The bible let us know that Paul was taught by Jesus himself. After his conversion he spent 4 years in the dessert and learned all he knew about Christ. That is my opinion.
