The devil has got a reputation for being a bit of a naughty boy. Always read the small print in the contract.
You could well receive your fame and fortune but that could be because the devil has set you up for commiting a horrific crime and you are serving a life sentence. You will write your best selling book from behind bars but never get to spend a penny. You may die rich and famous but behind bars.
Though you never know... Oprah may well come and interview you

The first thing to consider here is, for what reason do you wish to sell your soul? It is certainly possible to reach the level of heights (fame and fortune) that you are aiming for without having to do so. Just by retaining integrity, loyalty and sincerity.
To forgo your soul, you will have to compromise all the things that constitute your being. This includes everything you believe in, and going against all the people in your life. You will sacrifice the best things that you have both mentally and physically and you will probably discover that what you gained in return was not worth it.
Fame and money are things that seem very attractive from an outsiders perspective, but they can make you feel very empty if earned in the wrong way. You can have all the money in the world but you will not enjoy life without the right people there to celebrate with you.
With all things considered, it might be wiser to consider how you can be extremely successful without selling your soul to the devil.
