There's a "National Day" for everything, it seems.

Too bad there's only 365 days in a year.  (other than leap years)

EDIT:  I wonder where you got that today was "National Atheist Day"?
I can't find it anywhere.  The only reference to a "National Atheist Day" I could find, was to a joke from years ago - that has caused some people to believe April 1st is said day.

Truly? I'm astonished. I suppose it's no sillier than some of our Australian festivals.

Playful platypus week.
Dingo awareness festival.
Wombat Wednesday.
Bandicoot week.
Joeys in pouch month.
Gay koala day.

I think it would be more appropriate to have a  National Worshippers' Day. After all, in every country except the US they're an endangered species.

There was some speculation years ago (50+) that the Coriolis force was a possible factor in bird migrations / navigation, but I never kept up with such a possibility.

But I figure the communication problem is because down there you're all hanging upside down and the blood is rushing to your heads.

Heard that 60+ years ago, but never kept up with that possibility either.....

Regards....

I'm an atheist!  Will I get free coffee or something?  Otherwise, never mind.

Like it actually means anything or as much as any other random topic  'day' reserved for celebrating or creating awareness .. Like 'National Hemorrhoid Day" or "National Clouds Shaped like cuddly pets Day"

Wait, I actually voted for this - "National Clouds Shaped like cuddly pets Day" . . and now there may not be a day to celebrate!

Oops, sorry ya might a missed it .. it was yesterday. Don't fret though, it's one o'those days, that you can also celebrate on a rainy day .. It just has a slight twist .. It's called .. National RAIN clouds shaped like cuddly pets Day"...That would be considered a 'rain check'.

Time to go pray to the Atheist god, Atheismon.

Pretty much nothing? That's all there is to it. It's not really a cause for celebration. You don't believe in an imaginary deity, life goes on.

My thoughts:

"I wish I would've known this earlier. Instead, all I did was sleep when I could've been out celebrating. I could be drinking right now. Having some cake and ice cream."

"Dang it, but I've gained too much weight lately. If I eat cake and ice cream, I'll gain even more weight. I wish I would've not gained weight earlier."

"Here I am, eating a cheeseburger and fries, with a Sprite to wash it all down. "

"What does an atheist do on National Atheist's Day? Maybe I should Ask people on Blurtit and see what they're doing?"

"On second thought, I'll just continue with the plans I already have and try to get some sleep."

"I should tell my friend about this. Maybe we can have a video cam celebration and she can set up a pentagram with some Harry Potter books in the middle. That sounds fun."

God has given us all an inherent need to worship. People try to satisfy that need in a number of ways. The true satisfying of that need comes from our creator, Matt 5:3 "Happy are those conscious of their spiritual Need"

I have no "inherent need to worship".
If anything ... just the opposite ... as I always felt uncomfortable in worship situations, even before I became an atheist.

Never knew there was a day not believe is a God, We can all be thankful he has given us free will and we the evidence that he exist.  Romans 1:20 "For his invisible qualities are clearly seen from the world's creation onward, because they are perceived by the things made, even his eternal power and Godship,so that they are inexcusable .

Philosopher Celestine N. Bittle wrote in his book God and His Creatures: “No people has ever been discovered which, in the strict sense of the term, is ‘atheistic.’ Individuals may be atheists; but a people, never. This universal belief is a tremendous fact.” It is strong evidence that man was originally created with the inherent inclination to acknowledge God’s existence.

But if you left a child alone and didn't expose them to any religion, they would stay atheist. Religion is taught.

HUMANS possess a spiritual need that is as fundamental as the need for food. At Genesis 1:27, the Bible reveals the source of our spiritual capacity: “God proceeded to create the man in his image, in God’s image he created him; male and female he created them.” A person might relieve hunger pangs by eating junk food. Similarly, we could “fill up” on activities or philosophies that seem to satisfy our spiritual appetite. But just as surely as a poor diet leads to malnutrition, disease, or worse, failing to satisfy our spiritual need properly will ultimately result in harm.
If, however, we develop a relationship with Jehovah God, seek to do his will, and follow his guidance, we will find the truth behind the Bible’s words: “Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need.” (Matthew 5:3)
