I think we should have neutral temples where anyone of any religion can go and worship any God(s)/Goddess(es) they want, rather than having everything separate because I think that promotes division and hate. If everyone was a bit more respectful, could this work?

I just wonder why a building is necessary to worship any chosen deity.

"I only wish you knew my frame of reference as good as I know EVERY one of yours."

Sooner or later anyone who both disagrees with me and also engages in a long term discussion with me arrives at the only unassailable defense which works for them. They simply state, in one form or another, "Well, anyway, I'm just as smart as you."

Tragic---you could have learned much.

I'll wait here if you want to take that "out" if you so desire . . . or was that your "Out" above . . . don't feel bad Thomas, not all intelligence relies on whether you are able to "Critically Think" . . . You'll get there though . . . have to lose the blinders first.

Personally, I just go out in nature and do that. Why should anyone need to go into a man-made building? I think taking in the wonder of God's creations is a much better way. But to each their own.

I like the idea of a community place where people gather to contemplate life, spirituality, and just to meditate and relax.

No, that would never work, people are doing their own thing now when it comes to worshiping or not worshing God.  Putting everyone together in one place would never change the hatred in the harts of people that their religion has produced.  The solution is the removal of all false religion  according  Revelation 18:4," Get out of her, my people, if you do not want to share with her in her sins, and if you do not want to receive part of her plagues."  When talking to his followers Jesus said," By this all will know that you are my disciple if you have love among yourselves." All over the world Jesus followers are practicing love not hatred.

In the Bedfordshire village of Lidlington, the congregations have shrunk to the extent that the local church has been de-consecrated and converted into apartments. All local faiths of all kinds now use another, smaller building for worship.

The different mumbo-jumbos work for all users, I think.

Some might think that God is emphasizing the "personal" aspect of His relationship with His creation and choosing to interact with smaller groups to more clearly convey His message.

(Or perhaps not.)

It's an interpretation, certainly. But I suspect that an omnipotent god would care little either way about his interaction with his followers, but we should let him tell us.

They have churches like this. I have seen them called "Unity Churches" or "Inter-Faith Spiritual Centers".

There should be a center that meets to promote Unity and Community  rather then ANYONE's beliefs.

Beliefs SHOULD be left personal and private, and in no way needs a building to use for worship. Find a nice place in the woods, or atop a mountain . . It is closer to the concept of God then brick and mortar is. No one would be needing to be "Tax Exempt" if nature be their church.

Oh, and the 3 "Thank You" are enough for me Thomas . . .
I don't need the "Atta Boy!" comments to feel validated.

That fact that you consider the Chronicles of Narnia to be sustainable only for children again underscores the paucity of the word view of you as an individual atheist. (The other atheists that I have met on here have not indicated that they share your anorexic view of of this world.)

You make the same mistake that the witch in "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe" makes---you do not realize that there is a deeper magic in the world, not just the one that serves her goals. But then, you have admittedly deconverted from the wisdom of your childhood---so you have unfortunately thrown away some basic insights in such areas.

I am apparently more familiar with atheism than you are with Christianity. (And you certainly do not understand what "The Body of Christ" signifies, despite your statement to the contrary.) I will admit that's not difficult, because atheists, according to the American Atheists’ website is "it is a lack of belief in gods"---and if you don't believe that something is real and you further think that it makes no demands on you---it's pretty easy to become self-satisfied about your position that it does not exist. And until you find out differently in the future, you can be quite confident in your position.

Sorry Thomas, I would like to have conversation with you, but some keeps deleting my comments.
While this may bode well for some, it simply makes it look like you are ranting with no context to base you messages on . . .

Excellent point Otis.

It does help however, that the main focus of the meeting is the sobriety of each individual rather than the nature of the "god of your understanding."

(I am not an alcoholic, but I did think it would be worthwhile to read the "big book. I had some interest in "Bill" from another venue and some friends who were alcoholics.)

It can't work with our creator, the almighty God. There are only two religions, true and false.

John 4:23,24 - Nevertheless, the hour is coming, and it is now, when the true worshippers will worship the father with spirit and truth, for indeed, the Father is looking for ones like these to worship him. God is a Spirit, and those worshipping him must worship with spirit and truth.

2Tim 4: 3,4  - For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the wholesome teaching, but according to their own desires, they will surround themselves with teachers to have their ears tickled. 4 They will turn away from listening to the truth and give attention to false stories.

The decision or the thinking that one's beliefs are either true or false is subjective. The Sunni muslims believe they are the only true religion, Jehovah's Witnesses believe they are the only true religion, as do the Mormons, and the Iglesia ni Christos. Each of those religions and others, can "prove" they have the only "truth". So for one religion or beliefs system to say they are the "only truth" is opinion and not objective in nature.
