Probably my birth. I remember thinking how cold it was when I popped out, the lights were blinding, people were poking at me, they were sucking stuff out of my nose and then they wrapped me up like a mummy in that scratchy blanket.

First husband . There's too much to say-let's just say he wasn't a good person and to this day he still isn't .

Becoming a parent. It seriously rearranged my priorities from serving in the Army to "being there" for my kid(s). I'd known too many servicemen who'd missed out on crucial moments in their family life being deployed to faraway lands. Determined not to miss out (or die young), I resigned my commission and finished my business degree (also profound events). This led my path to the prosperity and bliss I now cherish every day.

Yes. He spent 7 years active duty and spent most of it stateside. He was a big part of designing the WIT program. It is the Army's "bomb CSI" so they could start tracking down where the insurgents were getting their explosives from.

I'll go with "Z" on this. The birth of my children altered my life in ways I never even imagined. So as not to scare "Would be Parents", it was all for the good. Yes it was scary, but the great parts keep outweighing the scary ones.

I'll relate a brief story to you, Dark, that underscores your excellent point:
In the years I was working and building my business, I used to come home at late hours, but I always made a point of "tucking in" my kids in their beds. They would be long asleep but it gave me peace of mind to know they were OK for the night. One particular evening, I went in to "check on" my eldest daughter who was about 3 or 4, as I always did, and satisfied that she was asleep and dreaming happy dreams, I turned to exit her room, when a soft, barely audible " I love you Daddy" came to my ears. It still brings tears to my eyes, and as you say, makes all the "scary parts" worth it, and then some. -Z

Those are the simplest of moments, yet they resound in our memories and trigger those nostalgic feelings whenever we think on them . . .
