I don't know too many people whom think they are perfect unless they are Narcissistic Sociopaths.

From the Mutations in my DNA, to those things ingrained in my psyche from such a young age that I would love to change . . . I am far from perfect.

NO ONE ever . . . IS or WAS, hence why evolution works so well . . . We are constantly adapting to our environment.

Our DNA has never been perfect. That is the whole concept of why things evolve . . . we are loaded with Mutations and some are driven by ever so slight alterations in our environment while others are just simply carried over from genetic matter.
The concept of perfection is without any flaws . . it is at the pinnacle of a status . . .

When someone asks me why I think I'm perfect . . . This just pops into my head. Had the question been "Are you okay with who you are?" . . I would have answered differently.
Also, there is no "Name Calling" . . . A Narcissistic Sociopath loves them selves and places themselves at that Pinnacle . . . although they may not completely agree they think they are perfect, they would think they are better than their peers. Think of Sheldon Cooper the character . . . his self centered attitude gives you an idea of what a Narcissistic Sociopath is like. Sherlock Holmes from the series "Sherlock" is another example, and he actually refers to himself as a High functioning Sociopath in many episodes.

Dear Jan,

The reason I think I am perfect is because every single one of my imperfections is absolutely precisely whatever it is perfectly that. (BAM)

Dozy...a bit off topic...but speaking of other cultures, it was so wonderful for me when I finally learned there were other ways of relating to each other than the one I grew up in!
My college roommate was Chinese, she and I really hit it off, I was so comfortable with all the politeness, my own kind would consider it exaggerated politeness...

So yes, I thoroughly enjoyed your story...and the subtle communication nuance, the phrase that meant different things in the two languages, even translated perfectly.

One of the girls I worked with in that company was English but she had grown up in Hong Kong where her father worked. She was stylish, elegant, and very lovely.

She said that one morning when she was on a ferry in Hong Kong two young Chinese lads were discussing her and were becoming quite explicit. One of them noticed that she was trying not to smile and said to her, in Cantonese, "You understand our language, don't you?" And she replied in the same language.

She said they were terribly embarrassed and very apologetic and then said what you've just said (which reminded me of the story) "They're very polite people."
