They make a treat called Mellow Mutt. It's available at pet stores. I'm not sure if it will be enough for you but we have an irish wolfhound mix that is afraid of thunder and they work great.

That is a male Dobson fly. The female look the same without the large pincher-like pendages. In the larval stage they are hellgramites.
Another possibility would be Doll's Clearwing Moth. Similar in appearance to a hummingbird and similar behavior.
