The similarites are that they are both worshipped, respected and they are both places of worship.

The differences are that they both have very different designs, layouts and the religion (as the person said above) practiced.

When it comes down to it, they are very similar, the main difference is the faith that is practiced. They are similar as in places of worship, but are different in appearance due to cultural difference and beliefs. Also, decor will be different depending on the religion. For instance, catholic have more statues and an alter and a tabrenacle and so on. Holy water at entrance. Baptist, no statues, symbols perhaps. Each religion is different as well, as depending where it is built, the architecture will differ
