We all were created with a soul "in the image of God". Your soul is the essence of who you are (how you act, feel, and what you believe) Our body is temporary and imperfect. Your soul, however, has an eternal existence, which upon your death is released from your physical body to be judged by your creator, God, and either receive a new eternal body, one free of defects, physical and emtional pain, or seperated from God's presence to be eternally tormented. The word 'eternal' is difficult to fathom, but if you know Christ it is extremely exciting, but if not can be terribly fearsome.

Jesus said: "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." and just as He comforted His disciples, that same comfort is available to you. He promised: "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms... I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go... I will come back and take you to be with me that you may also be where I am." [John 14:1-3, 6]

Also in the book of John, chapter 3 verses 16-18, we are told: "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son."

and we are assured in the book of Romans, chapter 10 verse 13: "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."

[All scripture quoted from The Holy Bible: New International Version]

You can't live forever, people would love it if they didn't have to die and could live forever in happiness free from sickness but it doesn't work that way you start off as a baby, then grow into a child, then to an adolescent then to a young adult and then to an older and older person and then eventually you get old and die. People's bodies were not meant for everlasting life because we get old, sick and eventually organs fail and we die. No one will live forever so just enjoy the time you do have left and make every moment worthwhile.

In what sense do you mean by "live forever"? If you a believer of science, then you can think of it this way. We are made of particles and atoms like Carbon and Oxygen. When we die and decomposed, those particles will disintegrate and combine somewhere else to make up another object, say like a tree or a table top. Thus the process continues and the cycle repeats indefinitely. So yeah, I say we do live forever as part of the universe.
