Is there a book you might recommend for changing the thought process of the mind? I'm looking for something along the lines of coming out of the poverty mindset.

It will probably not change the "poverty mindset" but "Zen and the art of Motorcycle maintenance" does change value perceptions.

"It should in no way be associated with that great body of factual information relating to orthodox Zen Buddhist practice. It's not very factual on motorcycles, either." - Robert Pirsig

As in trying to motivate yourself out of poverty?
In college, I recall Ralph Waldo Emerson's "Self-Reliance" essay impacted me a lot.

I recommend books and audiobooks by Brian Tracy. "The Power of Self Discipline" and "Maximum Achievement" are some of my favorites (They're easily found on torrent sites for free). A more recent guide book I enjoyed reading was "The Power of Habit" by Charles Duhigg. If the typical self-help books are too cheesy for you, I recommend "Meditations" by Marcus Aurelius.

Becoming the best version of yourself revolves around two things. DISCIPLINE and HABITS. Those two key things play a powerful role in your life, not just for wealth but for health, love, peace, and tranquility.

To complement your journey, I highly suggest getting into meditation. It's a good habit and a great tool to develop discipline. Win-win. If you are lost, it's the way to understand yourself. www.kusala.org/udharma4/mpe1-4.html

AND IF THAT"S TOO BORING. Try 30 days of Yoga. Adriene is a gem I promise. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBu-pQG6sTY

Rich people do not think like poor people. They believe the best way to make money is for others to make it for you. They also take more risks with money believing they will get it back, money makes money, where as poor people are taught to "save money" and that there is humility in being poor.  There are some videos online made by rich people.
