Which God? There are thousands, maybe even millions of Gods, each having a different set of ideals they want followed.
If your God is all-knowing, wouldn't He already know whether you do or not? Probably a one sided affair anyway.
Isaiah 64:6 "But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags..." Is it really worth your limited time to profess love for an invisible deity who thinks so little of you or your efforts.
Read the Bible, really read it. It is the single greatest cause of atheism that has ever existed.
Well personally ... Having studied various religious beliefs for a couple decades ... I didn't find a single "god" I would profess love to.
By not holding him up to ridicule.
Every time some god-lover starts wittering on about what a great guy God is (despite evidence to the contrary) it invites comical response from all those people who can see the broader canvas. If you want to honour god, do it in the secrecy of your own heart where he won't be made a laughing stock.
How can you show that you love Santa Claus?
I think loving Santa would be more productive in the long run.
This is what the bible says is the answer to your question. The bible says at 1 John 5:3 - "This is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments; and yet his commandments are not burdensome." Showing love to God will also bring us the best results in life. Everything we are asked by God to do, is in fact the best thing to do.
In Islam, by following the rules and fearing nothing else other than Allah ( fear because he can destroy you if you don't follow the rules and fear leads to obedience. That Fear leads to obedience part only works for omnipotent beings)
Here's a couple of suggestions. Read your Bible, regularly attend Christian Services, meditate and show love for your fellow humans.
Be a kind, compassionate and loving human, take care of the planet and pay your taxes. It doesn't take belief of a deity or the love of one.
To paraphrase
Gandhi.... I can totally embrace Christianity, it is the Christians I
do not understand. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ!
Love thy self,
You are the god you seek.
worship him alone without association follow his commandments avoid what he has forbidden
The Scriptures refer to the figurative heart, which is the inner person—our desires, attitudes, and feelings. So loving Jehovah with our whole heart means that more than anything else, we desire to please God. (Psalm 86:11) We show that we have such love by making our personality acceptable to him. We strive to imitate God by ‘abhorring what is wicked and clinging to what is good.’ (Romans 12:9) Just as we want to please our parents, our marriage mate, and our boss, we prove our wholehearted love for Jehovah by seeking above all to please him. After all, he deserves first, not secondary place in our heart.
We can show that we love God by doing what is stated at 1 John 5:3, " This is what the love of God means, that we observe his commandments, and yet his commandments are not burdensome." A study of the Bible will help a person to identify what those commandments are.
