That depends on your faith. Christians believe the meek shall inherit the Earth. Atheist believe once it is gone, it is gone.

Dear Megan Goodgirl,

This is one of those wonderful philosophical questions, and all the great spiritual traditions address it...

Our world is made up of opposites, and so the existence of the world depends on the Yin and the Yang...like the ancient symbol...or, "male and female created He them..."

* * *

However eventually each of us in our own time will begin to see the unity, the oneness that underlies the opposites of creation. And that means for that person, the world as we know it is no more! So the phenomenon known as the End of the World happens to each person one at a time, as we are ready.

* * *

Here are two images for you the traditional yin/yang symbol followed by my all-time favorite...yin/yang kitties!

Ha ha no Dear Happy, it is not online...it was a limited edition just for the people who lived around Mt. Baker; one book the history of the people and the other for children the history of the forest.

Everybody got their book(s), and then they went out of print! Lots of fun!

It could be the next phase in our planets history, or the one that causes it to go totally dead . . . Many believe that Mars had life at one time (dried up river beds evident on the landscape) and that Jupiter might have had life as well . . . If the Sun burning our or going nova is part of our planet's demise, I dare say it might be the end of the planet altogether, or propel it from this particular galaxy.

Or it might be like the dinosaur's cataclysmic event that ended their time and began ours . . .

The end of the world according to the bible, mean the end of only wicked people not the earth, Those who have learned to listen and obey God will live on this earth forever in paradise without any of the suffering and problems that we have today. Psalms 37:9-11,29.  "Futhermore,the world is passing away and so is its desire,but the one who does the will of God remains forever." 1John 2:17

Well, I don't know.

But since "the future is promised to no man," I am content to see God's plan unfold as it will.

He indicated that the "Kingdom of God" is present here in this world; so if I am in that kingdom as well as in this world as opposed to on this earth, should it end, I'm not sure how that would affect me.

And of course there is something about a 1,000 year reign in the bible.
