In some cases . . . men created Gods with their "Hang-ups" regarding sexual orientation.
I think back then it was more of a fear of "Growing a clan's Numbers" . . . could be wrong.

Perpetuating a certain agenda. It is obvious that your god is man made when he hates the same people you do.

Why does God let children starve to death?
Why are some born with malformations or disease?
Why does God allow racism?
Why disasters?
Why war?
Why murder?

The list goes on and on with one thing in common....all caused by humans. Man spews hatred at anything he doesn't agree with OR is against his religious beliefs.

A bit curious about "all caused by humans" Does that include those "born with malformations or disease"?

Diseases are spread by humans, malformations can be caused by poor diet, drugs, smoking, etc.

I don't agree with the premise that "God hates homosexuals"; that's something anti-gay activists love to yell, but it's not supported by any holy texts I know that claim to speak for God.

That said, there are some religious people who must believe that being gay is a choice because they believe God doesn't make mistakes. But that's already a fairly flawed idea, since there all kinds of potential "mistakes" that people don't choose.

Your "No need to have a deity set this up" maybe evidence that you have a love/hate relationship with the said deity. You just can't get the deity out of your mind. It looks like you're more God conscious than many a "pious" Christians. Read your last post again, which starts off quoting my comment followed by your response, and see who has brought deity into this part of the discussion.

As you say, "situations and circumstance" can land people in adversity. If they come trough it they are the stronger for it. It happens to everybody throughout life, to varying degrees. It's part of the learning process.

The reference to "Deity" of any kind is for the OP's consideration when reading the thread.

Had the question been:

*controversial question* If Bigfoot hates campers, why did he take their food and not just show himself and chase them out?"

My response might be that other woodland creatures such as bear and fox probably took their food, no need for a Bigfoot to figure this out.

Doesn't mean I hate the "Concept" of Bigfoot. I do happen to think religion does more harm then good, but I think this . . . without blame of any mythical creature it might be attached to.

"I do happen to think religion does more harm then good" Fair enough, but .....

First I think you might need to revisit that and see whether you mean religion [which would include the likes of Buddhism and Jainism] or God.

Secondly, apply it to another situation. Let's say you think Americans do more harm to society than good. Would you want to wipe out all Americans and start afresh again or would you want to identify what aspect causes them to do more harm than good and address those aspects specifically?

In your response to Ying and Yang above, you say, "I just wanted your guys' opinions on this."

So let me respond---there is no proof that the premise assumed in your "if-then" question is true.  Thus, the conclusion reached does not follow automatically.

So what is the point of manufacturing explanations for a situation that most likely does not exist.

The general rule is "Hate the sin, love the sinner."  That's probably God's approach as well.

Proverbs Chapter 6

16 These six things doth the Lord hate: Yea, seven are an abomination unto him:

17 A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood.

18 A heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief,

19 A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

No where does it say God hates gays. It does say that he hates those that will spread discord among his children though. So it is not the gays he hates, it is those that are using his name to show hate towards others.

Let's start by saying that God did not create gay people.  He does not hate anyone. The bible clearly  states in the book of genesi that god created the woman to be with the man. While I do believe that there is something wrapped up in imperfection that we will never understand, homosexuality is a choice that we make

So the concept that God is creating humans, or at the very least humanistic characters is one that makes little to no sense.

What you are, and what you become is based off of Genetics, Environment and Experiences both good and bad.

There are many diverse "mind-sets" that come about, and those three contributing factors have everything to do with them . . . No Mythical Deity required.

You're defending a position I was not encroaching on.

I was merely making a RELATIVE comparison between genetics on the one hand and the environment/experience factors on the other. Environment and experience we have RELATIVELY MORE control over THAN genetic factors. I think that is kind of self evident, really. We can take our children to a different environment and let them have a different experience but no amount of relocation can change the genetic factors of our children. Which ovum is released and which sperm fertilizes it seals it all right there. Don't you think?

The bible states that laying with a man as you would a women is an abomination (taboo), an act or custom of other nations abhorrent to God, one of many.

In Genesis women is taken from mans side, hence when a man and woman come together in marriage (joining) they become one. Same as intercourse when a man and woman come together they can create new life.

My opinion people can do as they please so long as it doesn't hurt anyone, that's what tolerance is, I just don't want it rubbed in my face. I do not watch much TV anymore because it's complete trash - sex, homosexual sex, violence, drunkeness, nakedness, rebellion against parental authority is pushed again and again, we are becoming a broken society. Gay men are pushed as sterotypically effeminate prancing around in rainbow colours, black men are promoted as gangsters rappers, guns, hoes, bling and violence, women are promoted as silicone breasted, overtly sexual, and gold diggers and clever people as geeky, wimpy and wearing glasses. Why aren't people insulted by this, it's an insult to our cultures, heritage and intelligence.
Men today walk round carrying manbags with the trousers tight and their underwear on show, men showing their underwear in prison was a sign that they were available for sodomy, now the fashion industry have men thinking this is fashionable, I think whomever runs the media and fashion industries has a big laugh at us silly sheeple especially at those who defend this attack on our intelligence and morality.

"In a few years, no doubt, marriage licenses will be sold like dog licenses, good for a period of twelve months, with no law against changing dogs or keeping more than one animal at a time. As political and economic freedom diminishes, sexual freedom tends compensatingly to increase. And the dictator (unless he needs cannon fodder and families with which to colonize empty or conquered territories) will do well to encourage that freedom. In conjunction with the freedom to daydream under the influence of dope and movies and the radio, it will help to reconcile his subjects to the servitude which is their fate.”– Aldous Huxley, in the foreword to his book”Brave New World”

*controversial question* If god hates gay people, why did he create them?============================================================

1- Did God create gay people? Surely we're told that God created Adam and Eve [not Adam and Steve] and it is these two [Adam and Eve I mean] who were told to go forth and multiply. [There would of course have been no multiplication anyway if it was Adam and Steve :)]

2- So all the diversity that is present in human beings results from these multiplications. People are either inclined to or choose many variety of lifestyles and beliefs.

3- Those who are born with conditions that are not the "norm" or average or fashionable spend their lifetime seeking to rectify them so that they'll fit into the "norm" the average or the fashionable. That's human nature.

Professor Cat,

Many that view your question as controversial may not have
God’s view in mind.  When it comes to how
God views homosexuality, the Bible is pretty clear at 1 Corinthians 6:9,10
where it says: Or do you not know that unrighteous people will not inherit God’s
Kingdom? Do not be misled. Those who are sexually immoral, idolaters,
adulterers, men who submit to homosexual acts, men who practice homosexuality, 10 thieves,
greedy people, drunkards, revilers, and extortioners will not inherit God’s
Kingdom
. So, it
never says that God hates the people but the acts that they practice.  Although if these ones continue to practice ungodly things, then He will render judgement upon these ones.  Even with our first human parents Adam & Eve,
they were created perfect and were given the gift of free will, which we all
have as well.  They misused their free
will and sinned, and according to Romans 5:12: “just as through one-man sin entered into the world and death through
sin, and so death spread to all men because they had all sinned”.
So, Adam’s misuse of His free will
affected all of us.  This helps us to
appreciate that God did not create anyone homosexual but they choose to submit
and practice their choice.  Now this does
not mean that one may not have improper desires, but we cannot use the excuse
this is how God created me.  At James
1:13 God’s Word helps us to appreciate that He was nothing to do with our bad
thoughts for it says there: “When under
trial, let no one say: I am being tried by God.” For with evil things God
cannot be tried, nor does he himself try anyone.”
So clearly, it shows that this is a
choice that you make, and not something in your DNA that is different.  I’m sure we wouldn’t believe that the shooter
in Las Vegas was created a murderer, no this was a choice that he chose to
do.  This is not to compare one who
murdered people to someone’s choice of partner, but it helps us to see that
every action that we do has a consequence, whether good or bad.  Everything we do has a result.  I have known ones we used to practice
homosexuality in the past, then come to have an accurate knowledge of God’s
Word.  These ones abandoned their former
course and are now married with children.
They have said that they still
have to fight the desires of the flesh, but they rely on God by means of prayer
and reading His Word.
