The founder of Buddhism the Lord Buddha was born in India and he spoke the language which was popular in the country at that time. The people in that time were seekers of truth and in that age there was a yearning to achieve higher states of mind. The Buddhist way quite matched with that approach where most of the aspects of Buddhism leads through sharpening the mind and making it available to realise the truth. But in later years this yearning for truth faded due to numerous attacks and Indians started to become materialised which they skipped the touch with the reality and the truth.

Because it did not rely on blind faith or dogma. It relies on each persons own personal experience.
