If anyone has any evidence of any good coming from these people I wish they would pass it along I would desperately like to be privy to any such information.

Depends on who's side your on. God/Jesus  was thought to be by his own religious leaders/self appointed to be a radical sect.at least that is what they used to have him hunted down and crucified.and as Jesus's followers will be and have been crucified, whipped ,stoned, torn apart by lions and burned at the stake. Now that said any religious, radical sect, fanatics looked at by man outside of the one God's/Jesus's reign/law/guidance are just that/outside of what God had intended and put into written word for direction on how to act/react/proclaim this is from the one and only God of the jews/Jesus the christ the God of the gentiles who have accepted him as lord and savior.so only in one case thought of by man as being a radical have we gained anything of value/worth/salvation. The rest are just man's misled ideals of how to force their belief on others. As we know Jesus/God made flesh the holy trinity/Godhead let's man of his own free will decide if he is who he says and showed he was to the world.as far as what was mentioned in your question again that is man acting without God's guidance/they have taken the law of man and God in their own hands and acted against it. This is about all i know.

Do you have any idea how crazy that sounds to anyone who doesn't share your superstition?

Madmacstew :i only hope one day your as whacked out and and crazy as i am before it's to late. It's historical fact how the emperor of rome treated hebrews by hanging them upside down to degrade them by their own beleif system and set them on fire to provide light in his garden while alive. .so which is crazier me believing something that has no influence on how you think or a governing body who kills people in this way to prevent what they consider a superstition.hmmmmmm?

It makes me think if this wasn't in line/ the truth you would not be trying to dismiss it just as a superstition. As the bible says the dead shall rise in Christ(loosely paraphrased).also to mean the dead languages and lost history will be released from the earth to provide the proof you need in order to realize that this is not a superstition/fairytale.like the dead sea scrolls, carbon dating of these scrolls.the connection of history with figures of the bible that are fact not fiction.

There are some benefits; the long term ones can be beneficial to many people, but the short term ones usually only do good for the fanatics themselves. Hitler solved a lot of Germany's problems in the wake of WWI, and his regime was responsible for making huge strides in technology. The Crusades eventually lead to the Renaissance, and without them we pretty much wouldn't have the modern world. Religious fanaticism can also help a people to protect their culture for thousands of years (if not cram it down the throats of all who submit).

The Crusades were a bloody shambles which crushed a lot of Arab advances (the 'Dark Ages' were purely European, the Arab world was very cultured through that period), and it's *war* that causes advances in technology, not Hitler.

I didn't say Hitler, I said his regime.

It is all about the money. The Crusades were about the money, just as all war is about the money, land, resources of the enemy. They call soldiers into action with lots of high and mighty jargon, because who would risk their life so that their masters could have more money. Instead we say "To make the world safe for freedom" " So that we will go to Heaven" or we instill fear by proclaiming the enemy is at the doorstep prepared to enter.

No, religious fanaticism of any sort (from Taliban to Pentecostal) is a *bad* thing, and the sooner we're rid of all that superstitious nonsense, the better. The good news is that most of the world is becoming more secular every year, and Church attendance is crumbling.

Not all believers are irrational fanatics. My Faith is a deeply personal one that I do not push on those around me. It is a Relationship with a power greater than me. I take the command to Love my brothers and sisters, and to pray for my enemies very seriously. I don't believe that any member of another religion is less than I am. I don't want to live in a 'Godless Society'.
