When Moses was on Mount Sinia he received the ten commandants they are , I am Jehovah your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, You must not have any other gods besides me. You must not make for yourself a carved image or a form like anything that is in the heaven above or on the earth below or in the waters under the earth. These are just a few you can read more at Exdous 20: 1-17
God formed “the Law,” which embraced the Ten Commandments together with over 600 other laws and statutes. For instance, laws requiring the burying of human waste, the quarantining of the sick, and the washing of anyone who touched a dead body were many centuries ahead of the times. (Leviticus 13:4-8; Numbers 19:11-13, 17-19; Deuteronomy 23:13, 14)
This is not as simple an answer as some above have suggested.
First, the question comes up where was it given?
In Ex 19:11, 19:18, Lev 7:38, and 26:46 the law is given at Mt Sinai
In Ex 3:1, 17:6; Deut 1:6, and 4:10 the law was given at MT Horeb
Are these the same place or different locations? It is not clearly known, and the bible does not give the direct answer, so I will call them "The Mountain".
Now what laws were given at The Mountain?
According to Deut 5:22 it was only the 10 commandments that were given
Then according to Ex 20:1-17 and Ex 21:1-23:33 The complete 613 laws were given.
So what it boils down to is which narrative do you want to read.
The board meeting on Mount Sinai between the CEO (God) and his VP (Travel) Moses was in response to complaints about the tour's failure to reach it's destination in a reasonable time.
It gave Moses such a migraine that God took pity on him and wrote down a set of ten instructions on two stone tablets. He handed them to Moses and said, "Take these two tablets and if the headache persists, see a doctor."
