It's true that Faith is a theological virtue.
A theological virtues adapt man's faculties for participation in the divine nature, and as such it is definitely a gift from God.
There is also a response that we created beings make in response to the awareness that there is a God. I'm guessing that is more what you are talking about.
God, like any good father, is constantly present to His children and always there to give us what we need if we will just acknowledge His presence and start a relationship with Him.
The more we understand, acknowledge, and accept that relationship with Him; the more He reveals His plans for our lives.
And that is what's wonderful about "Faith."
Or, you can always think as one other answer suggests, that Faith is no "more then (sic) the numbing of the mind to accept something void of natural reasoning."
As an aside, "sic" is used when you copy a quote that contains an obvious error---in this case, "then" rather than "than."
That error is the obvious one.
The other one is less obvious---the statement itself---although admittedly it is qualified by the writer by saying it is only what he believes about "Faith."
If you want to understand something about Christianity or Faith, it's best to listen to someone who is an active participant in both.
