The superstition pertains to not being the next one in it and is interpreted or stated in two different ways. The first one states that if a hearse or an ambulance is seen, a button should be immediately touched to avoid being the next person injured or dead. The second version goes "Touch your toes, touch your nose, and never go in one of those, until you see a dog." This interprets that one must quickly touch ones toes and nose and also hold ones breath till one sees either a black or brown dog.

Superstitions are beliefs found in almost all nations and peoples of the world. People attribute the happening or not happening of certain events based on some unrelated but believed related action or happenstance.
