That's pretty simple (and biblical).
How about, "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth... And He saw that it was GOOD!" (Genesis 1:1)
Or maybe, "...nor do people put new wine into old wineskins ; otherwise the wineskins burst, and the wine pours out and the wineskins are ruined ; but they put new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved." (Matthew 9:17 NAS)
Or how about, "Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature ; the old things passed away ; behold, new things have come."
Two thoughts:
First, both God AND the Church both love new things! The thing is... We love new things that are good and beneficial! Often men come up with something "new" because they don't like or agree with the way GOD wants to do it, and so create something that SEEMS good, but is actually evil and/or destructive. SHOULDN'T the Church stand against THOSE? I would think so. It has NOTHING to do with "...challenging (the Church's) authority!)
Second, be sure that the "new thing" that you want to support is actually within the will of God and so TRULY Scriptural.
I COULD say that SUICIDE is scriptural by quoting (out of context)
"So Judas threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself." (Matthew 27:5 NIV)
and then
Then said Jesus unto him, Go , and do thou likewise. (Luke 10:37 KJV)
Pretty ridiculous, isn't it?
