In short, yes. I get that religion is important to people - but it seems like far too often, people get obsessed with specific details about a religion, like what you're not supposed to do, eat, wear... And seem to forget that first and foremost religion is about respecting and loving each other, and not hating people.

I think that they are. As a general rule, I think religion can be healthy - it can help you through difficult times, be reassuring to think that you're not alone, and it help you solve personal problems.

However, it seems that many people (from my experience, it seems to be mostly Christians) are so obsessed with their religion that they become convinced that they are right and everyone else is wrong. And then they don't understand why people get annoyed when they try to convert them! If we let them believe what they want, why can't they let us believe what we want to believe?

And some of them believe the not-so-nice parts of the Bible. There's one boy at my school who says that he is accepting of everyone (because you have to love your neighbour) except for gays, atheists and disabled people - and he said that in front of a group of people who were all atheists or agnostics, several who were gay or bi and a disabled boy. Not to mention the sexist, homophobic and slightly racists comments. All in the name of religion!

And then of course there's those insane people who kill others in the name of their religion and God - if that's not obsession, I don't know what is.

So, yes. I think that many people are far too obsessed with religion and God.

True Christian extremism is this: to love your neighbor as yourself, to love God above all else, and to treat others as you want to be treated.
While it's true that the Bible teaches those things, but there are EXCEPTIONS. It says in 1 Corinthians 6:9 "Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God."

All people like that (non-Christian) have several chances to come to Christ and be forgiven. But you only get so many chances...

And for so called "Christians": 1 Corinthians 5:11 But now I have written to you not to keep company with anyone named a brother (fellow Christian), who is sexually immoral, or covetous, or an idolater, or a reviler, or a drunkard, or an extortioner—not even to eat with such a person.

Yes lot people are obsessed over God that's why people don't go to church, cause you have people come up to you and say oh we need to see you, come more often. It sort of scares people away.

Yes, but some are in denial like my neighbor and unknowingly make refrences all day, but I also believe that if they truly believe that, they should. I just think that they could keep it to themselves a tiny but more

You cannot be "too obsessed" with God.  Although you can be obsessed a right way and a wrong way.  Nobody ever notices the ones who are obsessed the right way, but everyone sees the weirdos who are obsessed the wrong way.  It really gives us Christians a bad name.
