I've had these dreams before. I think sometimes my mind forms an ideal guy out of all the traits I admire in my guys friends. He never looks the same, but there's always a bond there, like you mentioned. It's likely your subconscious that wants to be loved and with someone.
I suppose it could be you dreaming of your future mate, which I've heard happening before, but that is much more rare.
