What do you think of Pope Francis declaring Junipero Serra a saint? Is it right to make a saint of someone who participated in the enslavement, forced labor, and physical torture of non-believers?

Well....as I see it, "religion" is nothing but a front for controlling the masses.....soooo as long as "the church" deems it ok, it must be ok! Cos he said so!

I've never heard of Junipero Serra but the followers of the Catholic faith will accept anything that the Pope says. If he made Hitler a saint, the lemmings would applaud because of their blind faith.

He's the one who built the string of missions along the California coast and tried to convert all the natives.

I guess he was one of the missionaries the Spanish Church sent to Mexico/California region to convert the natives and build missions.

Skipping right over the probability that this gesture is absolutely nonsensical!

When did religion start paying attention to reality?

Honestly I havent heard about this, however if someone has done even one of the things you mentioned, then they should not be a saint.

All during the course of history .. The antics of the 'church' have been questionable, at best.

Personally .. I feel the connection between the "Church" and God has been convoluted and hopelessly corrupted...But that's just my view.

This Pope is sure shaking things up especially agreeing with Obamas ideas on several areas which is making a lot of people nervous  so hes acting like Obama in doing what he wants but he has to answer to a bigger Boss than us here, not me
