Why Do So Many People Follow Religion Blindly?

I think its more of culture.. I  grew up in a country where you can see a lot of BIG church where it can be filled of hundreds or even thousands of people and some do give mass every hour everyday.. And it never run out of people.. I grew up knowing that GOD exist and was force to go to church even though non of my parents are religious.. Before college I never understood any mass I have attended.. For I was always distracted of all the people around.. Noisy, laughing, playing, etc I'm like why are you here??? .. Sigh* I never was a religious person, I was JUST doing it to save argument and respect for my parents,,, I have met a lot of religious people who can curse more than anyone I know.. The more I grew up the more I lack faith in church.. I became blind of my own religion.. A person told me that the most sinners are those who are religious (priest, nun etc) for they know god more than anyone and yet they don't practice what they preach..  And so I avoided reading the bible.. For I know I am not YET ready to follow his words.. I stop attending mass .. I only do it when I really want to.. I still write roman catholic as my religion I may be blind of any religion but I am confident of my faith in GOD.. I say no religion is true nor false.. I say its own will.. And so I will praise God the way I KNow...

an atheist told me once that people believe as form of weakness.. People are afraid to know that they are alone.. They only need GOD for strength and so they made one.. He said he was strong for he doesn't need anyone to lean on.. You are the reason for everything that happens in your life.. I actually give high respect to him than those who are highly religious people who are not practicing what they preach.. I agree with N2umee only HiM can tell if we are blind or not.. With or without religion.. =D and I honestly think its not important..  For we praise GOD differently.. Own will..

Religions are a security blanket. They provide people with answers (whether right or wrong or neither) to the deeply intrinsic questions we have been asking ourselves since man evolved. It feels a lot more comfortable for someone to have an answer to cling on to, however contrived, than to admit that we just don't know. Also, a great deal of people are religious simply because they were raised that way. The tobacco company's mantra, "hook 'em while they're young" was developed centuries ago by the Catholic Church.

I'm neither for condemning or condoning religions, though my wording may seem subjective.

I think he means, just going to church and believing in whatever you were raised to believe, and you never question it or anything.  I know many people who were simply just raised as Christians and have always just "known" that it is the one and only way to go.  I think more people should take a lesson from some Buddhists, they don't believe in anything blindly, I believe one of the quotes goes something like......Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it. Do not believe in anything simply because it is spoken and rumored by many. DO NOT BELIEVE IN ANYTHING SIMPLY BECAUSE IT IS FOUND WRITTEN IN YOUR RELIGIOUS BOOKS.. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Do not believe in traditions because they have been handed down for many generations. But after observation and analysis, when you find that anything agrees with reason and is conducive to the good and benefit of one and all, then accept it and live up to it.

What do you mean BLIND? I'm not religious ,but just serve GOD and read his word. I belong to know denomination "" Just worship JESUS CHRIST"""well there is nothing wrong with my choice in the Doctrine of Jesus Christ our Saviour.  First"  I am well aware of the belief I have and am quite sure , because I know that the power of GOD exist . Just because you don't believe doesn't mean it's an insecurity or some strange phenomena.  You are given a choice to be what you are and study what it is you like in religion or not religion , so do the same for others , respect them          cause you can't identify a person on what they believe and those stereotypes and rumors. Some people say christians are pushy , so are some non-believers in what they don't believe.  They are so concerned about why people believe then to figure out why they don't believe . We study in this world all our life just about from careers and goals and life choices in college , so I say study thy self approved to know what you want to know and say perhaps the HOLY BIBLE . It can shed some light on WHY?    Who said people are blind in their beliefs?  You , or the many views of the world"  ONLY THE KING HIMSELF DETERMINES THE BLIND and you will surely see SOON .  I pray GOD show his alwesome power to you and reveal those answers to your questions in a way that you understand,  cause in the Bible the blind is the non-believer.

Because there are so many religions and people are confused which to follow

Its written in the Bible that most people will become blind... It's already obvious, but they can't still see it.but, you must clearly explain your question... What kind of blindness do you mean. Siting an example would be very useful.

Because its a lack of faith, when people follow different religion.
