Yes and no. It depends entirely on which type of zombie you find yourself up against. If they are of the 'plodding' variety (see Dawn of the Dead) then yes, the average human can indeed outrun a zombie. Remember however that you will need to stop eventually, as you need rest, they don't. If you find yourself up against a 'runner', like the ones in 28 Days Later, then to be honest, you've pretty much had it unless you can get to transport.

As well as not needing rest, Zombies don't feel pain and as a result can push their bodies well beyond the normal human pain threshold. You'll eventually get cramps and need to stop.

Always carry a long pole or something of the sort with you. Since zombie's are off balance you can merely push them away as you run, so yes, you can outrun a zombie.
Quick, poke it with a stick!!! XD

Most likely yes, unless you are extremely out of shape.

"Even without injuries or decomposition, their lack of coordination makes for an unsteady stride...Zombies appear to be incapable of running...again as with strength the dead's advantage over the living is tirelessness." - Max Brooks' "The Zombie Survival Guide", ( page 13)

You can outrun a zombie but they will keep on coming after you (they smell and hear you)
remember zombies can NOT run, if they run they are what we call infected, then it is a virus that has taken over the body or sends the poor chap into a mindless rage or something. If they run it's infected, if they are slow and decaying it's a zombie!

Yes they are very slow and off balance it is impossible for a zombie to stand in one place or there fall over and they can not jump keep these in mind and a zombie will never catch you.
