Religion is important because religion gives you order in life. Religion helps you to find a way of life that you think you should live by. Just imagine this world without religion it would be just a mess lol people would think it is right to steal, kill, rape, etc But because most religions do not believe in stealing, killing, etc and that there are consequences for every action they chose not to. Without religion society would be running crazy but who says its already not, hey maybe we are not doing are job as religious people cause our world is just messed up
Lower church attendance is proportional to higher crime statistics. Religion excels in, acknowledging and experiencing one's own and as a group,Spirituality.
My thoughts on this are simple. I'm not playing to sophistication or anything else. I am a Christian, a pure and simple fact. I did not follow the beliefs of Catholicism. The horrors of the dark ages make me cringe. It was not Christianity or its true beliefs that caused these crimes. It was the thoughts of men in power, who realized that if people understood what the Bible truly taught, they would lose all they had...control, wealth, and power.
Not all who practice Islam are violent. I have read the Koran. There are things in it that teach that the rest of us are infidels and deserving of nothing but death. The religion is fundamentally a violent religion.
All religions, at some point, have been violent. Whether it is the will of their god, or of man, I do not have an answer for. Most faiths may be based on peace. It is the sins of man that infiltrates these beliefs and destroys what they were meant to be. The sooner we understand this, and comprehend what it means, the better this world may become. Do I believe this world will get better? No. I sit here and watch the books of Daniel, Revelation, and Ezekiel showing up in the news daily. Maybe, that's why I am a Christian. I see what I read happening daily. Who knows? We could all be wrong. I don't think so though.
The Islamic religion affected society in many different ways. First it banned sex before marriage, which is why it is very, very rare to find a muslim who has Aids or HIV. Other than that, It taught muslims respect and trust for each other, also it taught them to be trustworthy people and kind. They think of others before themselves. That is all I can think of for now.
ISLAM is the religion which has the meaning of peace.I agree that today islam is regarded asa religion which means brutal killing of people (jihad),strict restrictions for women & etc etc.But there are many misconceptions about my beautiful religion ISLAM affects society in many ways.Today in this world which is full of crime, sins, where a brother cannot trust another brother the society in which crime is found least is the islamic society .I am not saying that there are no sins,no faults or crimes going on in this society but they are less as compared to other societies.:)
The organized religion concerns more about some reality problems. It will help to focus beings' attention to global ones. Then people may try their best to work out them in order to provide a more harmonize environment. As a consequence of that,it will do good to promote the peace, steady and development of the whole society. Besides, the religion talks more about topics concerning ethics and moral principles. It will have great effect on moulding persons' levels of moral principles. Thus crimes such as society violence and eroticism will be sharply reduced. We can see the society to be more stable.
I agree with Freethink . It's ok if your scared of death. With the unproven theory of religion it is currently impossible to KNOW for sure what is the correct answer or even if there is one correct choice, and given the chance that your soul, a thing that you can not see and can not define could be eternally damned to hell-a place where you've never been and were led to think was worse than your brain could possibly imagine; it may be wise to follow a religion based upon many other religions with the names and holidays switched around and re named of course to make them more palatable for the people to believe in the Christian faith.Sure it is your choice of course.Seek TRUTH and don't believe just what others have taught. That is one of the things the bible teaches. But again the quest for truth and the reason we exist has only led me in circles. I am neither for or against it. It has good and bad attributes. I believe balance is the key.
I think that if there will not be religion many people will go in a wrong way and it keeps the negative though away, and be a good person in the society to have a respect in the society
Well from the historical aspect, religion being introduced to the natives of african countries had a civilising effect on them. Some would argue that they were best left alone but on balance I think it was a positive thing. In present day situations, organised religions such as roman catholicism and presbyterianism can be used by governments as a method of control. This is where one faith is empowerewd over another. Ie here in northern ireland, the protestant section of the community were left to control the local government. This led to conflicts and wars. Similarly, it is happening in iraq wherby the shiite section are being empowered by the government to control the sunni population. Organised religion can be a very advantageous tool when it comes to charitable works . But it is also open to abuse. I am not sure if this is what you are after . :)
Most of the time in a lot of countries, we see that the government seem to make there law for citizen to abide. But religion has already got its Laws ready and set.
It is good to see in Britain they do obey some of the Laws of Christianity and other places likewise.
Gives us the false hope that if we are good people, when we die we will go to a magical place called heaven. This isn't true of course. The only thing religion has done is corrupt minds and brainwash people and take away peoples freedom and enslave them to an invisible giant in the sky.
