Michelle is derived from Michael. Michael is of course a bibilical name as it is the name of the archangel Michael. The name Michael or Michelle does NOT mean "God-Like" or "like the Lord" as some believe. The name in Hebrew is actually a question: "Who is like the Lord?" It is a rhetorical question, pointing to the fact that No one is like our God.
