Why Does God Allow Bad Things Happen To Good People?

While it seems no one wants to believe in God, no one is denying the devil!! Why is this? We all know in our hearts and souls that there is something out there that is more than us. We are the ant under the magnifying glass, and there is only one person/being who can move that glass. We will suffer and prosper here on earth until we are judged. What we are judged, we will know when we get there.

My mother had cancer when I was seven. Although I believed in god at the beginning, I didn't afterwards. God just doesn't exist. Why would he allow bad things to happen? He isn't "testing" you or anything, he's just not there. If he was testing people, then why do bad things happen to people who devoutly believe? Why do good people who go to church and believe in god die when they are thirty, painfully and slowly? It's not the devil, it's not that they don't believe, it's that he just doesn't exist.

Prove that He does - You can't. Neither side can "prove" anything, and attempting to "prove" or "disprove" it only leads to pointless, endless, and detrimental arguments.

Kanamefan, I am sorry you think this way. Allow me to argue a point, though. Sometimes God allows bad things to happen to good people because He wants to test your faith, Lyfhacker. Look at poor Job! His family died, he had diseases, and his friends abandoned him. And why? Because God wanted to test Job's faith. And guess what Job got at the end of the trial? A new family, the diseases vanished, and he was surrounded with friends. Lyfhacker, I thank you for asking this question. I was looking for some guidance today, too, and there it is. God bless you. And you too Kanamefan....

Isaac, I honestly see where you're coming from. And though I'm not a believer myself, I obviously appreciate your views and opinions. But, I ask...Why are there wars? Why, if God created the Earth, are there so many disasters? Why do people kill others? Why are people racist, sexist etc? I don't understand. I've been through plenty to know that it isn't God who helps you, it's your friends and family. I'm not saying religion is pointless, but so much mayhem stems from it. Thank you, Isaac.

You are pretty much correct in that a lot of, if not most, chaos and war stems from religion. Muslim extremism: convert or die. Christian extremism: love your neighbor as yourself, love God above all else, and treat everyone as you want them to treat you. True Christianity is not a religion - it's a way of life and the only way to true Life. With our Creator in heaven for eternity, or in hell for eternity, depending on how we live our lives; whether wholly devoted to God and Christ, or devoted to ourselves and our desires.

God does exist and every human on this earth will at some time experience bad things. Bad things happen to all people, but I guarantee God WILL not allow anything to happen to you that you can't get through or overcome. I have a little saying that I made up myself and it works for me when I am going through a hard time or struggle in life, I pray first about the trouble I am experiencing and then I say "God, if this is a test, I plan to pass with an A+. I always do too. God is out there for all of us and when we don't put God in our lives, and I mean first in our lives, not only will bad things happen, terrible things will happen. We will all die someday. I sure would rather when that day comes that I have had God in my life!!

God knows that people can handle things. Some can handle more than others. God gives harder things to people because He knows they can handle it.

I myself am NOT a believer in God. I believe in Science.
Bad things happen to good people because no one can escape bad things. Simply, we're all human, bad things happen and you're gotta suck it up and carry on.

The Age old question, and do you know what? Nobody will ever know; until you leave This Earth when he calls you to serve him. That is all you can do. Believe it will be Reverse when the time is right.

Because if there is a God, he doesn't have the power that we people think he has.
Life is made up of opposites:    Hot and cold,   female and male,    light and dark,  wet and dry,
hard and soft.  High and low, and  GOOD and BAD.   "God" is a placebo that people made up to cope with all these extreme differences.
