I have had similar dreams. I have found out that it usually means you are either feeling overwhelmed by all the things going on in your life, like you are going to drown, OR it simply means you drank too many fluids before bed, and you better get up and go to the bathroom before you pee in your PJ's. Not trying to be funny, just true.

What my Aunt tells me is that someone in your family or someone close to you is hurting or ill.

This is usually call a wet dream or a water dream (according to my aunt, she studies dreams and their meanings).

When I dream about a tsunami or a big wave at a beach that is going to wipe out the whole town or village and I am with my family or looking for my family, that means that someone in my family is either sick or hurt, or that they need me just to talk to them or just to let them know that I am there for them.

If the water isn't clean and is dirty maybe it means bad luck. If the water is clean and has a lot of lively things in it, it might mean good luck.
