I don't think that animals have the capacity to 'believe'. I believe that they are connected to God in a very deep and real way. God communicates to them in a way we don't comprehend. They are always the first to know of Nature's impending disasters, and they have an innate ability to read situations that humans can not. I believe when The Lord gave us dominion over the animals and 'lesser' creatures, He intended us to be kind and to care for them, when necessary to the best of our abilities.

Have you seen the look on a dog's face when it jumps over a wall and lands in a large body of water ?

Trust me they are VERY spiritual creatures ...

"OH MY GOD I AM GOING TO DIE" is on the dog's faces of the at such a time, EVERY time, I have seen it over and over, and over, and over, and over,, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over ...

Somehow I never seem to tire of doing things like that to my dogs :-D

Awwww.....I know! Sometimes I wonder what's going through their heads at times like that....my daughter constantly dresses our dog up and makes her beg and do tricks for treats. The look on her face seems to say...give me the g'dam snack before I bite you on the ankle!!...and all with a smile on her face. LoL!

No-one knows for sure, but animals probably can't get into heaven because it wouldn't be heaven if you had to step in dog crap all the time.

I couldn't say, as animals cannot speak their mind, bring themselves to church to worship, or hang icons in their living quarters and such. I guess only the animals...and God, would know the answer to that.  Although, when I say to my dog..."Praise the Lord!",  she will stand up on her hind legs and put her front paws up in the air. (cutest thing ever).

I'll get a photo of " Zorro-the-Brave " next time I see him, a dog of legend and sagas, he is a friend's Pomeranian cross Chihuahua that must weigh all of 2lb when wet
Some call Zorro "SUICIDAL" but he *ALWAYS* tries to attack my 3 Bull Terriers -if he presented any appreciable threat any one of them could swallow him whole. He's there, at the end of his lead trying to sound "SHOCK & AWE! " -I am absolutely helpless with laughter everytime its more like a squeaky gate :-)

It must be a Pomeranian thing. Mine weighs about 7 lbs. Tiny little thing. Still insists on chasing and barking her head off at dogs 17x's bigger than her. You're right...it's a riot to say the least. Gotta love' em.

Great question, and a might tough to answer. I really tend to lean to what Pencil said about them being somewhat intuitive, and have great senses for not just impending peril, but they can sense good and bad in people. I would trust my cat running before I would trust someone to tell me that it will be o.k. If this volcano blows.

Animals in my own opinion have not the capacity to think as a human does. Therefor they probably do not have any concept of God .

Animals have the ability to migrate to the same place every year. Salmon spawn in the same stream they where born. Turtles lay eggs on beaches go out to sea and their young are born and do the same, they return as adults to the beach they were born. They must have some connection to God. Do they believe in God, none have the power of speech to tell. We have the power of speech, do we believe.?

What does having the power of speech have to do with believing in a God? I don't see that connection.

The animals don't have a way to communicate with us to tell us if they believe or not. That is where speech comes in.. We have the power of speech and yet we often do not use it to say.

I doubt it. There are few that even have self awareness let alone a concept of god/gods.

I say yes.  Animals "know" where they came from.  They are ever loyal and faithful.

No, humans are the only species of animal that has the mental capacity to make assumptions of the outside world. They just do not have the power to do that. Also its not faith that a dog jumps over a hedge its his/her animal instinct. Other animals do not go " wow I bet god made this whole world just for me " they just don't and sorry to criticize you but i can't fathom why an adult would believe in such nonsense when me, a twelve year boy, can see that any bible, or what ever you call it, that has not a single scientific fact backing it up. I just don't under stand. Please tell me why you believe in such an evil disturbing creation. Sorry if im being incentive but I just get so angry on this subject, i mean adults believing in imaginary friend, basically.

No. Only humans have a sense of morality and a capacity for spirituality, qualities that animals do not have. And if this human spiritual capacity is not satisfactorily filled, people cannot be happy. Jesus Christ said: “Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need.” (Matt. 5:3)

They don't need to. They are at a much higher level of evolution than us and don't need to hang on to the idea of some omnipotent supernatural being to give their lives 'purpose' and 'meaning'

No. Sometimes it pays to be of lesser intelligence. They don't fight over religion and end up killing their own species as we humans are doing. They don't waste their precious time on the planet trying to convert other people, assuming they know best. They just live life. Smart.

I doubt animals believe in imaginary creations.
Not even all humans believe in a god.
