In some respects Christianity deserves some of the criticism that has been mentioned here. The things being referred to and the atrocities mentioned are of man. Beginning in Romans 8:31 we can find the words to offer our brothers and sisters in Christ: Hope and peace. Some may speak against our beliefs, and some may criticize our God and some may make fun of us ( or one of us ) but it does not matter. It does not matter what the unbeliever says, their words are as dung on the barn floor. It will dry up, blow away and be useless. The Bible says this in Romans: "If God is for us, who can ever be against us? Since God did not spare even his own Son but gave him up for us all, won't God, who gave us Christ, also give us everything else? Who dares accuse us whom God has chosen for his own? Will God? No! He is the one who has given us right standing with himself. Who then will condemn us? Will Christ Jesus? No, for he is the one who died for us and was raised to life for us and is sitting at the place of highest honor next to God, pleading for us. Can anything ever separate us from Christ's love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or are hungry or cold or in danger or threatened with death? (Even the Scriptures say, "For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.). No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours though Christ, who loved us." Paul continues...."And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can't, and life can't. The angels can't, and the demons can't. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away." So let them rant, their words have no meaning for those of us who believe. All we are obligated to do is to tell them about our Savior and pray that they will take heed. We are criticized because those who do not believe find our belief unbelievable because salvation is so simple....believe and be saved.
It reeks of all of the worst flaws of man while trying to pass itself off as divine or righteous. I know you are a devout Christian, but try to look at it objectively. The central text is outdated, rife with historical and scientific inaccuracies, largely apocryphal, and wildly contradictory to itself. It (Christianity) espouses peace and love while the greatest atrocities of man are/have been carried out in its name: Genocide, infanticide, rape, the ban, slavery... The list goes on.
I'm not saying that Christianity is wholly evil, but it is certainly worthy of criticism.

I criticize Christianity because they had a grand time killing many in their delusions of thinking they were right...... The world was flat, the sun revolved around the earth and the list goes on..... Burning people, beheading people, torturing people...... And then now, after all of this, they want to shrivel up and beg for mercy when the hand of judgment comes for them?
Look at the vast wealth and moral corruption of the Catholic Church, and the fangs-bared viciousness of American neo-cons like that devout 'Christian' George W Bush, and stop asking silly questions.
