Dispensation means to be exempt from any given rule or requirement. Various leaders and authorities throughout the Bible, along with important characters were often exempt from certain laws. Yet, none were exempt from very many laws that were presented to man by God.

The Bible leaves time split into seven unequal periods. These periods are called dispensations. The changes in dispensation are marked by God changing his method of dealing with man or a smaller portion of man.
